Rainbow Row & The Battery, Charleston
Staying at one of our Charleston homes puts you inside walking distance of the most photographed block in the South. Rainbow Row’s thirteen pastel Georgian houses date to the 1740s, and they’re at their best early in the morning, before the tour groups arrive and while the light is still soft and golden. From there it’s a five-minute stroll south to the Battery, where antebellum mansions face the harbor and the seawall promenade catches every breeze off the water. Loop through White Point Garden under the live oaks, watch the container ships glide past Fort Sumter in the distance, and you’ve done the essential Charleston walk — all free, all flat, all stroller-friendly. Go at sunrise if you’re a photographer, or in the late afternoon when the harbor turns gold. Our Spring Street and King Street homes are a 20-minute walk or a five-minute pedicab ride away, and there is no better warm-up for a King Street dinner reservation.
